Uruguay – Argentina

uru-argTonight in Montevideo, Uruguay, we will see one clash between 2 of the biggest teams not only in South America, but in the whole world, who will fight for a direct qualification for the World Cup 2010. Without any doubt this will the most interesting match in this qualification round.

Uruguay have recorded 4-3-1 in their home matches until now, as the only loss is against Brazil. Something which we can rate it as normal. Despite that, The Sky Blue recorded some very good wins – 6:0 against Peru, 5:0 against Bolivia and 3:1 against Columbia one month ago. The players proved that they are in-form with the last win in Ecuador with 2:1 just a couple of days ago, and for sure they are ready for tonight’s big clash. The Uruguay’s head coach Oscar Tabarez can rely on every of his best players for this game, and without any doubt, all of them will want hardly to win against their big rival in front of 73 000 die-hard fans, and qualify directly to the World Cup. And if we mention the current condition of the Argentinian team, this mission seems as highly possible to be accomplished.

Argentina, after the hiring of their legendary player Diego Armando Maradona as a head coach, are playing one style of football which we can describe with only one word – a chaos. Maradona, for his short time as a head coach, proved to the whole world that the last thing that he should do is coaching. He is doing a stupidity after stupidity and is ruining the Argentinian national team game after game. And now, just before the match of the year for Argentina, they are facing the menace of missing the World Cup in South Africa, as if they lose against Uruguay and Ecuador win their game in Chile, Argentina are out of the Mondial as they will finish on the 6th place. And despite the importance of this game, the squad which is expected to start the match is so strange and definitely not the best available. But Maradona became famous with one more thing – switching the starting players in every single game and fielding some players which are definitely not good enough to wear the Argentinian t-shirt. In the away games till now, Argentina recorded a balance of 1-2-5 and a goal difference of 5:13. Something which is absolutely unallowable for a big team like they are. And after the disappointing last game in Peru, which the team won luckily with a last minute goal, I think that it will be so hard for Argentina tonight and it is highly possible to watch a World Cup without Messi and Argentina.

Expected starting line-ups for both of the teams:
Uruguay (4-4-2): Fernando Muslera; Maximiliano Pereira, Andrés Scotti, Diego Lugano, Marín Cáceres; Jorge Rodríguez, Diego Pérez, Walter Gargano, Álvaro Pereira; Luis Suárez y Diego Forlán.
Argentina (4-4-2): Sergio Romero; Martín Demichelis, Rolando Schiavi, Nicolás Otamendi, Gabriel Heinze; Juan Sebastián Verón, Javier Mascherano, Rodrigo Braña, Jonás Gutiérrez; Lionel Messi y Gonzalo Higuaín.

Pick: Uruguay AH0 at the odds of 1.80 at bet365, stake 8/10.
In my humble opinion, Uruguay are capable of even destroying this Argentinian squad, but one World Cup without Argentina will mean a huge financial losses for FIFA, so that’s why I’m choosing this not so risky pick.
