1848 – The first football rules are composed in the University of Cambridge
1863 – The FA is founded
1869 – The goal kick is added to the rules
1871 – The oldest competition in football is founded – The FA Cup
1872 – The first international match is played – the 0:0 draw between England and Scotland
1872 – The corner kick is added to the rules
1873 – The football Associations of Scotland and Wales are founded
1874 – The shin guards are invented and used for the first time
1882 – The International Football Association Board (IFAB) is founded
1889 –The Royal Netherlands Football Association (Dutch: Koninklijke Nederlandse Voetbal Bond or KNVB) is founded – the oldest outside Great Britain, followed by the founding of the football associations of Denmark, Belgium, Switzerland, Sweden, Italy, Germany, Uruguay and Spain
1890 – The football nets are invented by JA Brodie from “Liverpool”
1891 – The penalty kick is added
1891 – Leading the games is entrusted to the referees
1902 – The first big football tragedy – the collapsing of the West Tribune on Ibrox Park during the game between Scotland and England know as the Ibrox disaster
1904 – FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) is founded
1905 – Alf Common is the first in the world football transfer at the price of 1000 pounds, transferring from Sunderland to Middlesbrough
1905 – The first South America`s international football game – Uruguay vs Argentina
1908 – Football is introduced for the first time in the Olympic Games
1910 – The first Coppa America take places. Only 3 teams are playing : Argentina, Chile and Uruguay
1912 – The goalkeepers can handle the ball only in the penalty box
1918 – The French Football Association (FFF) is founded
1925 – The offside rule was changed from 3 opponent players closest to the goal line to 2
1930 – The first Wold Champion Final`s took place in Uruguay
1954 – UEFA is founded
1955 – The first season of the European Champion Clubs’ Cup
1960 – The finals of the first EURO took place
1966 – England wins World Cup
1970 – Brazil wins the World Cup for the third time and receives the trophy of Jules Rimes forever. The winner now get the new trophy – the world cup from FIFA
1979 – Trevor Francis becomes the first player for 1 million pounds moving from Birmingham to Nottingham Forest
1992 – The England Premier League is founded
1992 – The European Champion Clubs’ Cup is now the UEFA Champions Cup
1997 – The rules of the games are changed to the way we know them nowadays
2004 – When a player takes off his shirt it is considered as braking the rules
