Houston Rockets – Portland Trail Blazers

Tonight, we will see one clash between two teams which, despite of the very early stage of 2009/2010 season, already met each other, when the game was won by the Blazers, and I think that they definitely have the class and the opportunity to do it once again. Still more, they have something personal against the Rockets.
Houston most probably will be one of the weakest team in the NBA this season, as the biggest star of the team, Yao Ming, will miss the entire season with a foot injury, and the other star player of team, Tracy McGrady, is still suffering from his injuries, and it is unknown when (and whether) he will be fully fit again. The Rockets will depend a lot to Trevor Ariza, but he is still not a leadership player and I don’t think that he will succeed with this task. The first game for Houston this season was against Portland, and they lost it 87:96. After that the Rockets won their visit to Golden State, but the Warriors are not in good shape at the moment, as we saw it last night, when they were trashed by Phoenix Suns (and especially by Steve Nash who made 18 points and 20(!) assists), and I don’t think that this Rockets’ win can tell us something about the class of this team.
Portland posted up some big goals before the start of the season, and they definitely have the potential for some serious achievements, but it is still unknown whether they are capable of doing it. But if they want to be at the top-rated teams at the end of the season, they have to win their match-ups against a lower-class opponents, just like Houston. This game will be one more chance for a revenge, as exactly the Rockets were the team which eliminated the Blazers in the 2009 Playoffs with a 4:2 wins (but the Rockets were still with Yao Ming and Ron Artest in their squad). Portland are 1-1 until now, as after the already mentioned win against Houston, they lost their game against Denver, but the Nuggets are one of the strongest teams in the Western Conference and this loss cannot be rated as a big surprise. But despite the loss, Brandon Roy made one very good performance, finishing with 30 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists, and I expect from him to make another big game tonight, and with the support of his teammates to overcome the Rockets with 5+ points.
Pick: Portland Trail Blazers (-3) at the odds of 1.90 at bet365, with 8/10 units.
