Although the title race here is over, there are still some teams that continue their fight.
Liverpool – Tottenham
The hosts maybe have been the strongest and consistent team lately, giving as much pressure as possible to the leader. In the league their are unbeaten in the last 10 games with 9 wins and 1 draw (the 4-4 against Arsenal) and managed to score 31 goals, around 3 goals per game, and conceded only 6 (4 of them from Arsenal in that game). This statistic is more enough in order to describe their nice run.
A nice finish of this serie will be a home win as this win will be important for securing the 2nd place as Chelsea are only 3 points behind them. It will be reasonable if we see some rotations in the first team but still the backbone of the team is expect to be on the pitch. There won`t be any key missing players for the team as only Degen is injured (and he hasn`t played a game since he has been signed in the summer).
The thins in Tottenham became better as Redknapp took the manager seat and he brought stability to some extend – this was what the team was seeking for. I have to admit – I admire his work and I expect a lot of them in the next season.
The team is still trying to get to the 7th place and to participate in the euro tournaments next year but in order this to happen, they will have to win here and wait for Fulham to lose their game. Though there is some stability in the team, Tottehnam have been shaky in their away games lately. They lost their game against Man Utd after leading with 2 – 0 (in a game where Man Utd showed what a big team there are) and the game against Blackburn with 2 – 0. To summarize, their away performance is not that effective as their home games.
The Pick
Blackburn – W.B.A.
This to teams have nothing more to play for in this game but, on paper, Blackburn can still climb a few positions if they win here which will be a good enough motivator for this clash. On the other side, for W.B.A. the season is already over and they are heading to the Championship as I guess soon the new planning will start.
W.B.A. just weren`t ready for this league and here is the result. We have to point out that they were the worst away team in the league with 1 win, 4 draws and 14 losses and goal difference -24! For now, this league seems to be too classy for them.
Blackburn made some good home games lately, wining the last 3 of them against Tottenham, Wigan and Pompey. I expect the same here – one more home win and the opponent is weaker with some way poor moral. I guess we can expect some rotation here too in the starting eleven but still I can`t see W.B.A. getting something from this game and the odds are fair.
