Definitely the most interesting game this weekend and the stake here is more than the ordinary 3 points. What can we say about Manchester Utd – for sure, they are making an incredible season so far. They already won 2 cups and now they are chasing 3 more. There is no weak point in the team. The defense is really strong with Vidic and Ferdinand and they already showed their class with the long serie of unconceded goals alongside with Van der Sar. The midfield is stable as they usually dominate against the opponent and although Ronaldo is not making that great season as the previous he is still a phenomenon and is a great problem for the opponent`s defense. The attack is also nice with Berbatov more and more finding his place in the team and Rooney and Tevez in good shape. It is just that Man Utd are one class above all the others in the league.

There will be a great fight in the center of the field but I think that United will prevail – simply their midfield is more effective than the one of Liverpool`s. Actually there are 2 main questions in this game – how will the victory against Real (4-0) will affect the players` game and how will the home team cope with Gerrard and Torres?

First, the big victory against Real Madrid will surely affect positively on their game but having in mind that this will be a really tense derby I don`t think that in this particular game this will be such a factor.

Second, there is a theory that Gerrard is not that effective in such games as the “tense” is over him (of course there are exceptions like the one against Real Madrid). And having in mind that eventually Man Utd will be stronger in the midfield, it will be no surprise if he is not that effective as usual. About Torres – he will have hard time against Vidic and Ferdinand if he plays against as alone striker and maybe he will not be able to show his nice technique.

And we have to mention one great motivating factor for the home team here - the 3 points here will be more valuable than usual. Liverpool is “chasing” United so these 3 points will be in great asset to the difference between the teams. As we say – these are the games that at this point of the season will decide who will lift the cup at the end.

The H2H is also in Manchester`s favour – 4 – 0 – 0 in the last 4 years (3:0, 2:0, 1:0, 2:1).

Injury List

Manchester United - Wes Brown, Owen Hargreaves, Gary Neville (questionable)

Liverpool - Yossi Benayoun, Daniel Agger, Philipp Degen

The Pick

The odds for the home win are nice but having in mind that still this is a derby (and you know that anything is possible), just keep the stakes a bit lower.
