At first glance, things seems to be pretty clear here – Liverpool are strong favorites for the win.

And there is no other way, having in mind the facts I will point out down here. On paper, they still have chance for the title but I don`t think that anyone believes in this anymore. Chelsea are piling the pressure and want the 2nd spot as they are pretty close to Liverpool. Now they are with even points but if the home side manages to win here, there will be a 3 point gap against between them. Although, Liverpool won`t be champions their aim now is to keep the 2nd spot in order to avoid the qualification rounds next year in the Champions League. And still they are obliged to make some pressure on the leader. So the reds will be fully motivated.

With the win against Hull last round Liverpool showed that they have forgotten the game against Arsenal and even, that it hasn`t reflected them in any way. And the teams is in great shape lately, especially at home, where they are still unbeaten – with nice wins in their last games (4 out of 6) – vs Blackburn (4-0), Aston Villa (5-0), Sunderland (2-0), Chelsea (2-0). And Newcastle is poorer than most of them now.

The hotst will be boosted with the return of their captain Steven G. Also, the team is well rested and fully focused on the league.

Newcastle made the regular move to try to save the team from relegation this season. And this time it was Shearer. Clearly, he hasn`t the experience as a manager but the management wanted to use him mainly as motivator for the players. Well, this hasn`t worked till now. Shearer still hasn`t led the team to a victory and their poor game was proved as they didn`t managed to beat Pompey last round.

The Pick

Liverpool hammered already Newcastle early in the season as guests (1-5) and something similar is possible here. The host are in good shape, motivated, well rested, focused in the league, boosted by the return of Steve G. and regarding to the play of both teams this season, Liverpool are way classy than their opponents. The regular move for saving Newcastle is not working for now and hardly will start to work in this game.
