For tonight I will offer you 2 picks for one NBA match. Last year’s finalists LA Lakers are visiting good performing New York Knicks which play very attacking-minded basketball after the hiring of Mike D’Antoni.
New York this season as hosts are with 14 wins and 9 losses but when they meet a fairly good playing team they lose their match (yes, they won vs. the last year’s Champions Boston Celtics, but in that period Boston played awful and lost against much more weak teams than them). After his hiring, Mike D’Antoni freshened the Knicks team and now they play the typical for D’Antoni “run and gun” style which is very attacking orientated and D’Antoni requests from his players to shot the ball for maximum of 15 seconds. And this brings success for the Knicks as they have 7 wins from their last 10 matches (and the bad results before that were because they had many injured players). For today the only important missing is Eddy Curry but he has played only in 2 games this season and the team can play without him. But I don’t think that Knicks have the needed power to beat this Lakers team.
Los Angeles will play tonight their 3rd from 6 game road-trip. And I think that they will do their best to win it because after that they will meet Toronto, Boston and Cleveland and they can give themselves a little rest against Toronto because this game is only 1-day before The Big Derby versus Boston. Undoubtedly, a huge blow for them will be the missing of Andrew Bynum who got injured in their last game against Memphis (unfortunately, just like last year, when Bynum injured himself versus Memphis and missed the rest of the season..something which I am hoping not to happen again). But I don’t think that his absence will be key for tonight’s game. As I said the Knicks played very offensively but something can be said for the Lakers – in their last 10 matches they have not passed the 100 points only one time (99 against defensively playing San Antonio Spurs) and I think that we will see one match with a lot of points which will be won by LA Lakers with covering the spread.
