Finally, the time for the new 2009/2010 NBA season has come and some of the season-openers are promising to be very interesting and entertaining, as we will be able to watch 2 derby games in the very first day of the season. One of them will be the Big-East-clash between the two favourites even for the title – Cleveland and Boston, while the other one is the Los Angeles’ rivalry between the Lakers and the Clippers. And in my opinion the second one deserves more attention in betting aspect.
Los Angeles Lakers begin their march of defending the NBA title against their city-rivals. One team against which, the Lakers are playing very good in the last years, as they have 8 straight wins, and 6-2 ATS in these 8 games. The Lakers made one very good deal in the summer, as they signed with Ron Artest, who is playing very good in the pre-season games and is adapting very well to the team, and definitely he has a lot to give to this team. Out for the Lakers will be Pau Gasol, but Lamar Odom has shown so many time that he can replace him perfectly. The motivation will be on a very high level for the home side, the Staples Center will be full of people for the season-opener and the Lakers definitely has what they need to beat the Clippers with double-digits.
Los Angeles Clippers made some very good summer deals as they picked the N1 draft player Blake Griffin, and acquired Sebastian Telfair and Rasual Butler who will give a very big boost to the team. But unfortunately, Blake Griffin injured himself, and is most likely to miss up to 6 weeks (or about 20 games) which will be a big blow for the Clippers, as the newcomer has made some very impressive performances in the pre-season games. The other bad news for the team is that Baron Davis is most likely to miss this game as he has an injury and he has not trained with the team for the last several days. But the good news is that Marcus Camby is recovered from his injury and participated in the last 2 trainings and he will have the chance to play some minutes tonight. But without Griffin and Davis, it will be very hard for the Clippers, especially against the Lakers, and I expect one big loss for them.
