Boston Celtics – Dallas Mavericks

This is the last round in the NBA before the All-Star break. Both of the two teams in this matchup has player who will participate in the All-Star game (Dirk Nowitzki for Dallas, and Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce for Boston) and this is a great chance for them to warm-up for the forthcoming Sunday show.

Dallas right now are in pretty solid form with 7 wins in their last 10 games, and they have not lose a game in their home ground for 5 straight matches. Actually, the Mavericks uptrend began after one loss against the Celtics in Boston (100:124). After this match the team were locked in the dressing room by the team direction and this had definitely a positive effect on the Mavs. And I expect that they will play highly motivated today to prove that they can beat the NBA Champions, but I don’t think that they will succeed. In the mentioned 7 wins in their last 10, only 2 of them make an impression – in the visits in Miami and Orlando, where Dallas won respectively 111:96 and 105:95. The other are against the desperate Detroit Pistons and against Golden State, Portland, Chicago (after OT) and Sacramento who can’t be said that play good as visitors. And today with Boston, Dallas face one very difficult task. Also, Jason Terry would not take part in this game because of injury, who is one of the most important players for them with his 19.9 points and 3.7 assists per game this season.

Boston come for this game after a win last night versus New Orleans Hornets – 89:77, with which they proved that they are one of the very good playing visitors and they have a 19-7 record this season. Also, the Celtics are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 road games. In the last matches Boston show some signs of  going out-of-form as they lost 2 games in their home ground against LA Lakers and San Antonio Spurs, but this is something that will give them extra motivation for one win before the break. Ray Allen has a light injuri in his finger, which can affect his shooting, but there are so many players in Boston who can shoot very well and the most important fact is that he will play tonight. So I think that the given spread worth a try.
