III Round

22.08.2009

I will post our betting options in this article for this round in the Premier League.

Arsenal – Portsmouth

Before the start of the season I had very pesimistic expectation for Arsenal`s performance this year (like the previous one) – they won`t be too strong to challange for the title and even fight for their place in the Top 4 (especiallt with City`s ambitions this year). Wenger lost some key players like Adebayor and Toure which made my thoughts even stronger. Nevertheless, I cannot deny the great start of the season for the Gunners – a great win against Everton (1-6) and a fair win against Celtic in the Champions League (1-2). I still stick to my opinion and I believe that they performance will drop sooner or later and a gap between them and the leaders will be formed but for now they seem like a team who can be trusted. I see nice depth in the squad and great midline – the source of their power.

Unfortunately, I have much worse expectation for Pompey this season. I fancied this team when Redknapp was in charge (a great manager for me) but since he left the team their performance started to drop frequently. And this year I expect things to become even worse as I won`t be surpirsed at all, if I see them fighting to avoid relegation. They already recorded 2 losses and it look like a storm is coming for them at the Emirates. I just can`t see Pompey, playing like this, to win anything against Arsenal being in such form.

Injured and suspended players

Arsenal – Fabianski, Tosicky, Walcott, Nasri, Djourou

Portsmouth – Diop, Primus, Finnan, Hreidarsson

The Pick

Manchester City – Wolverhampton

After some great money spending, City started this season with big expectations – both from the fans and the management. Their aim is quite clear – finishing in the Top 4 and winning a spot in the Champions League next year. Nevertheless, now is time for some hard work – we have seen already teams failing after high spending during the summer. If we leave all the expectations aside, we must admit that City started well the season.

On the other side, I see Wolves as typical team that has won promotion and now they will fight to avoid relegation. After playing a poor first round, Mick McCarthy`s men impressed with their play against Wigan. Though, I expect, after the season enters in more normal phase, that Wolves will be a team counting more on home games rather than away ones.

It is true that we must not trust the teams a lot in the beginning of the season but I saw City making a nice start and now they will be chasing their first victory at home, which will be a really satisfying one for the fans and a prove of hope for them that this selection can get something out of this season. No doubts – motivation is high here for them. And as we remember from the last season – City were way better at home than away and maybe we will see something similar this season too. Honestly, I do not trust Wolves and it is more than clear that City way more classy than their opponents.

Injured and suspended players

Manchester City – Cruz, Johnson, Kompany

Wolverhampton – Foley, Iwelumo, Kightly, Doyle, Berra

Good betting tips there. Might follow you the handicap one myself, looks decent.

The odds for the Arsenal`s hendi look a bit low though still worth a shot. Good luck, mate!
